The Cold Spring Silver Springers won the first game of their league doubleheader 5-3 against the Becker Buzzards on Sunday at the Becker Athletic Complex.  The offense pounded out 13 hits in the game and Joe Kounkel pitched a complete game on the mound.  He allowed three unearned runs on nine hits, three walks, and struck out five.

Scoring Summary:

Cold Spring struck first with a run in the top of the second inning when Greg Terres singled, went to second on a ground out, stole third, and scored on a single by Ron Terres.  However, Becker responded with three unearned runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-1 lead.  The Silvers cut the lead in half with a run in the top of the fifth inning when Derek Falde singled, Ron Terres singled, and Troy Schroeder singled home Falde to make the score 3-2.  In the top of the sixth inning, Cold Spring took the lead for good with three runs.  Greg Bemboom singled, Todd Steil singled, and Mike Arnold hit his second home run of the season to plate all three runners and give the Silvers a 5-3 victory.
