After suffering a tough loss in the opening round of the MSMABA state tournament, the Cold Spring Silver Springers rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 3-2 over the Apple Valley A's in the Class A bracket of the tournament on Sunday afternoon in Fergus Falls.  The offense only managed seven hits in the game, but the defense was flawless and Joe Kounkel pitched a complete game to earn the victory on the mound.  He allowed two runs on six hits, one walk, and struck out three.

Scoring Summary:

Cold Spring jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first inning.  Greg Terres singled; Rod Schafer singled; both runners advanced on a passed ball; Greg Bemboom walked to load the bases; and Terres scored on an error off the bat of Chad Hess.  Apple Valley responded with two runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead, and the score stayed that way until the bottom of the seventh inning when the Silvers rallied for two runs.  Schafer walked; Bemboom sacrificed Schafer to second; an error off the bat of Todd Steil scored Schafer and advanced Steil to second; Mike Arnold was intentionally walked; and Andy Auger singled home Steil to give the Silvers a 3-2 victory.
