The Cold Spring Silvers completed a league doubleheader sweep of the Alexandria Classic Clippers by winning game two by a score of 5-0 Saturday afternoon in Alexandria.  The offense managed just five hits, but didn't need to do much as Joe Kounkel pitched a gem on the mound with a complete game shutout.  He gave up just two hits and struck out four in the game.

Scoring Summary:

The Silvers jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the first inning and that would prove to be all they'd need to win going away.  Rod Schafer walked, stole second, and scored on a double by Mike Arnold.  In the top of the fourth inning, Cold Spring added another run when Tim Martin singled, Todd Van Erp walked, and Martin scored on an error off the bat of Kounkel.  The Silver Springers tacked on a third run in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 3-0 when Greg Terres was hit by a pitch, stole second, went to third on a fly ball, and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Arnold.  Cold Spring made the score 4-0 with a run in the top of the sixth inning after Brent Schloe walked and scored on a double by Kounkel.  The Silvers added their final run in the top of the seventh inning after Arnold doubled and Martin singled him home to make the final score 5-0 in favor of Cold Spring.
