The Cold Spring Silver Springers won the second game of their league round-robin by beating the Becker Buzzards 6-0 at Springer Park on Sunday.  The offense pounded out eleven hits in the game and Andy Auger and Todd Steil combined on the mound for the second shutout of the day.  Auger picked up the win with five innings of work, allowing no runs on two hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.  Steil pitched the final two innings, giving up two hits and striking out two.

Scoring Summary:

The Silvers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.  Greg Terres led off the game with his first home run of the season; Rod Schafer reached on a fielder's choice; Greg Bemboom singled Schafer to third; and Mike Arnold hit a sacrifice fly to score Schafer.  Cold Spring added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning to open up their lead to 4-0.  Troy Schroeder walked and later went to second on a wild pitch; Schafer singled home Schroeder; Bemboom singled; and Arnold doubled home Schafer.  In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Silvers added two insurance runs to pull away for good.  Steve Huls singled; Schafer singled; Bemboom singled home Huls and advanced Schafer to third; and an error brought home Schafer to make the final score 6-0 in favor of the Silver Springers.
