The Cold Spring Silver Springers lost their first game of the 2017 by a score of 6-3 to the Lakeville Lobos in the first game of a non-league double header Saturday afternoon in Cold Spring. The Lobos outhit the Silvers 10-7 and helped themselves out with some clutch hitting as part of a 3-run sixth inning. Andy Auger took the loss on the mound.

Cold Spring got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the second inning for a 1-0 lead. Tim Martin reached on a fielder's choice; Auger walked; and Derek Falde singled home Martin. The Silvers extended their lead to 2-0 with another run in the bottom of the third inning. Greg Terres singled; Rod Schafer walked; Greg Bemboom reached on a fielder's choice to advance Terres to third; and Terres scored on an errant throw as Bemboom stole second. The Lobos responded with two runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2, but Cold Spring came right back to reclaim the lead with a run in the bottom of the frame. Chad Hess singled; Martin sacrificed Hess to second; a groundout moved Hess to third; Falde walked; and Brent Schloe singled home Hess to make the score 3-2. However, Lakeville scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning and tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning to win the game 6-3.
