The Cold Spring Silver Springers completed a league doubleheader sweep over the Alexandria Classic Clippers by winning the second game 8-5 on Saturday afternoon at Springer Park.  The offense managed 11 hits in the game, while Dave Hinkemeyer and Andy Auger combined on the mound to help with the win.  Auger was credited with the win after pitching four innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk.

Scoring Summary:

Alexandria jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning and things didn't look good for the home team.  In the bottom of the fourth inning, however, the Silvers blew up for six runs to take the lead 6-4.  Greg Bemboom singled; Mike Arnold was hit by a pitch; both runners advanced from a wild pitch; Todd Steil singled home Bemboom and Arnold; Ron Terres singled; Auger singled home Steil and advanced Terres to third; Derek Falde reached on an error to plate Terres; Tim Martin singled home Auger with Falde advancing to third; and Todd Van Erp reached on an error that scored Falde.  Alexandria cut the lead to 6-5 with a run in the top of the fifth inning, but the Silvers tacked on two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull away.  Falde singled; Martin singled; and Van Erp doubled both runners home to make the final score 8-5 in favor of the home team.
