The Cold Spring Silver Springers came from behind to defeat the Class C Eden Valley Hawks 3-2 in an exhibition game on Saturday night at Springer Park.  The Silvers scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to sneak out the win after trailing 2-1 coming into the inning.  Eden Valley outhit Cold Spring 9-6 in the game, but the old men took advantage of two Hawk errors to score the winning run.  Joe Kounkel pitched a complete game for the home team to earn the win on the mound.  He allowed two unearned runs on nine hits, one walk, and struck out seven.

Scoring Summary:

Eden Valley struck first with an unearned run in the top of the first inning, but Cold Spring tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning after Mike Arnold hit a solo home run over the 380' sign in left center.  The Hawks reclaimed the lead with another unearned run in the top of the fourth inning, and the score stayed that way until the bottom of the ninth, when the Silvers made their comeback.  Derek Falde reached on an error to lead off the inning; Rod Schafer reached on a fielder's choice, with Falde advancing to second on the play; Greg Bemboom singled home Falde to tie the game at 2-2; Arnold flied out to center to advance pinch runner Kounkel to third; Andy Auger walked to load the bases; and an error off the bat of Ron Terres plated Schafer with the winning run as the Silvers won the game 3-2.
