The Cold Spring Silver Springers defeated the Alexandria Classic Clippers 2-1 in the first make-up game of their league doubleheader on Saturday morning at Springer Park in Cold Spring.  Alexandria was the home team despite playing the game in Cold Spring.  The offense managed eight hits in the game, but the defense and pitching came through big when the Silvers needed them most.  Joe Kounkel pitched the complete game to pick up the win on the mound, allowing one run on eight hits, two walks, and six strikeouts.

Scoring Summary:

Cold Spring got on the board first with a run in the top of the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead.  Greg Bemboom singled, Chad Hess sacrificed him to second, and Todd Geislinger singled him home.  The Silvers added their other run in the top of the sixth inning when Bemboom singled, Hess singled Bemboom to third, and Todd Steil hit a sacrifice fly to score Bemboom and make the score 2-0.  Alexandria scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh inning and had the bases loaded with just one out, but Kounkel worked his way out of the jam with a foul popout and a strikeout to give the Silvers a 2-1 victory.
