The Cold Spring Silver Springers fell 5-2 to the Fort Ripley Rebels in the first game of their league doubleheader on Saturday afternoon in St. Mathias.  The offense only managed five hits in the game compared to Fort Ripley's nine, while Joe Kounkel took his first loss of the season on the mound.  He pitched all six innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.

Scoring Summary:

Fort Riply jumped out to a quick lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Cold Spring came back with a run in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 3-1 when Derek Falde singled, stole second, and scored on a single by Kounkel.  However, the Rebels added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning before the Silvers scored their second run in the top of the seventh inning.  Chad Hess singled and Mike Arnold doubled Hess home to make the final score 5-2 in favor of the Rebels.
