The Cold Spring Silver Springers completed a league doubleheader sweep over the Alexandria Classic Clippers by winning the second game on Sundy afternoon at Springer Park by a score of 5-1.  The offense only managed five hits in the game and was actually outhit 6-5 by Alexandria, but timely hits, solid defense, and great pitching helped the Silvers come out on top.  Andy Auger went the distance on the mound to pick up the win, allowing one unearned run on six hits, no walks, and he struck out six.

Scoring Summary:

The Silvers got on the scoreboard first by scoring twice in the bottom of the second inning without getting a hit.  Todd Steil walked and stole second; Mike Arnold walked; Auger sacrificed both runners up a base, and an error on the play allowed Steil to score and Arnold to go to third; and Todd Geislinger hit a sacrifice fly to score Arnold and make the score 2-0.  Alexandria scored their only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead in half, but Cold Spring came right back with three runs in the bottom of the inning.  Chad Hess doubled and then advanced on a groundout; Arnold singled home Hess and then stole second; Geislinger walked; Arnold and Geislinger advanced on a wild pitch; Ron Terres singled home Arnold; and Tim Martin singled home Geislinger to give the Silvers a 5-1 victory.
