The Cold Spring Silver Springers lost 8-3 to the Class C Richmond Royals in an exhibition game on Saturday afternoon in Cold Spring, the first of three games played at Springer Park as part of the annual Day at the Park fundraiser.  Richmond took advantage of a Cold Spring error in the second inning to score seven unearned runs and never looked back.  The Silvers managed eight hits in the game and also welcomed back former players Ron Terres and Jason Spohn for the day.  Russ Huls was tagged with the loss on the mound.

Scoring Summary:

Cold Spring scored in the bottom of the first inning for a brief 1-0 lead after Greg Terres walked, stole second, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a groundout by Greg Bemboom.  However, Richmond exploded for seven runs on six hits in the top of the second inning after a Silver Springer error to take a commanding 7-1 lead.  Cold Spring answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 7-2 when Todd Geislinger doubled, went to third on a groundout, and scored on an error.  Richmond tacked on an insurance run in the top of the fourth inning while the Silvers scored one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Brent Schloe singled; Troy Schroeder walked; and Ron Terres singled home Schloe to make the final score 8-3 in favor of the Royals.
