The Cold Spring Silver Springers were dealt their first loss of the season by a score of 2-1 in the first game of their league doubleheader against the Becker Buzzards at Becker High School Field on Sunday.  Unfortunately, a very well-played game by both sides came down to two missed calls that both went against Cold Spring, with the second one leading to the eventual tying run.  Cold Spring outhit Becker 8-4 in the game, but left too many men on base against a very good Becker pitcher.  Russ Huls earned the tough-luck loss on the mound by pitching all six innings, allowing two runs on four hits, no walks, and he struck out four.

Scoring Summary:

The game was scoreless until the top of the sixth inning when Cold Spring struck for their lone run.  Greg Terres singled, stole second, and scored on a single by Greg Bemboom for a 1-0 lead.  However, Becker responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning after a batter was incorrectly called safe on a bunt single, another single, and a long triple to center scored both runs to gave the Buzzards a 2-1 victory.
