The Cold Spring Silver Springers defeated Class C St. Nick 3-2 on Wednesday night in an exhibition game at Springer Park.  The offense was again stagnant as the Silvers only had five hits in the game, but the defense was solid when it needed to be and Joe Kounkel was his typical self on the mound, where he picked up the complete game win.  He allowed two unearned runs on eight hits, no walks, and struck out seven.

Scoring Summary:

St. Nick got on the board first with two unearned runs in the top of the third inning, but Cold Spring came right back in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 2-2.  Tim Martin reached on a fielder's choice; Todd Van Erp walked; Kounkel reached on an infield single to fill the bases; and Greg Terres doubled home Martin and Van Erp.  The Silvers took the lead with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and the score would stay that way for the rest of the game.  Derek Falde singled; Brent Schloe was hit by a pitch; Martin walked to load the bases; and Van Erp singled home Falde to make the final score 3-2 in favor of Cold Spring.
