The Cold Spring Silver Springers had to rally late to defeat the Class C St. Nicholas Nicks 15-14 on Sunday evening in an exhibition game at Springer Park.  After leading 5-0 through four innings, St. Nick scored nine runs in the fifth and sixth inning to take a 9-5 lead before Cold Spring scored 10 runs in the sixth.  The Nicks rallied again in the seventh to score five runs and had the tying run on base, but Cold Spring was able to get out with a win.  Offensively, the Silvers had 12 hits and took advantage of nine walks, a hit batter, and three St. Nick errors.  Jake Eichten started on the mound and pitched four strong innings while Greg Terres picked up the win with 1/3 of an inning of relief.

Scoring Summary:

Cold Spring took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after Terres reached on a fielder's choice, stole second, and scored on a single by Rod Schafer.  The Silver Springers added to their lead with four more runs in the bottom of the third inning to make the score 5-0.  Terres walked and stole second; Schafer singled home Terres; Todd Geislinger walked; Derek Falde walked to load the bases; Todd Van Erp walked to force home Schafer; and John Theis singled home Geislinger and Falde.  St. Nick rallied, though, with four runs in the top of the fifth inning and five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 9-5 lead.  However, Cold Spring erupted for 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to reclaim the lead 15-9.  Terres walked and later went to second on a passed ball; Schafer walked; Chad Hess reached on an error to load the bases; Geislinger walked to score Terres; Falde singled home Schafer; Van Erp singled home Hess and Geislinger; Theis singled home Falde; Greg Bemboom singled to fill the bases again; Mike Arnold singled to score Van Erp and Theis; Terres singled home Bemboom; and Hess doubled home Arnold and Terres.  St. Nick came right back in the top of the seventh as the first five batter reached base and eventually scored, but the tying run was left on first base as the Silvers came away with a 15-14 victory.
