The Cold Spring Silver Springers defeated the Fort Ripley Silver Rebels 8-0 on Sunday afternoon in the first game of their league doubleheader at Ripley Field in Fort Ripley.  The offense pounded out 12 hits in the game and scored all eight of their runs in the fourth inning.  Joe Kounkel pitched a complete game shutout on the mound for the win, scattering six hits, two walks, and three strikeouts.

Scoring Summary:

Cold Spring scored the only runs of the game, all of which came in the top of the fourth inning when they put up eight runs on seven hits.  Greg Bemboom singled; Chad Hess singled; Greg Terres singled to load the bases; Mike Arnold doubled home Bemboom and Hess while Terres advanced to third; Andy Auger singled home Terres and advanced Arnold to third; Todd Steil reached on an error that plated Arnold and moved Auger to third; after Steil stole second, Brent Schloe grounded out to score Auger and advanced Steil to third; Derek Falde doubled home Steil; Todd Van Erp singled Falde to third; a wild pitch scored Falde with Van Erp moving to second; a groundout advanced Van Erp to third, and he'd later score on a wild pitch to end the scoring for the inning and the game at 8-0 in favor of the Silver Springers.
