The Cold Spring Silver Springers defeated the Alexandria Classic Clipppers 7-0 in the first game of their league doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Springer Park.  The bats were a bit sluggish as the offense only mustered six hits, but three of those hits produced two runs each and Cold Spring drew 11 walks in the game.  Andy Auger pitched well on the mound for the win, allowing no runs on four hits, no walks, and he had three strikeouts.

Scoring Summary:

Cold Spring scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning when they struck twice.  Auger walked; Bill Theis sacrificed Auger to second; a wild pitch advanced Auger to third; Steve Huls walked and then stole second; Greg Bemboom walked ot load the bases; and Rod Schafer singled home Auger and Huls to give the Silvers a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth inning, Cold Spring doubled their lead with two more runs to extend their lead to 4-0.  Terres singled; Mike Arnold walked; Auger walked to fill the bases; and Theis doubled home Terres and Arnold.  The Silvers finally put the game out of reach by adding three more insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Bob Kleefsaas walked; Todd Steil singled; John Theis reached on a bunt single to load the bases; Terres doubled home Kleefsaas and Steil; Todd Geislinger was hit by a pitch to re-load the bases; and Auger grounded out to plate John Theis and give the Silver Springers a 7-0 victory.
