The Silver Springers completed a doubleheader sweep on Sunday afternoon at Springer Park with an 8-0 victory over the Fort Ripley Silver Rebels.  The offense collected 11 hits and Joe Kounkel pitched a complete game shutout on the mound, allowing just five hits on two walks and seven strikeouts.

Scoring Summary:

Cold Spring jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and that would be all they would need for the game.  Bill Theis and Greg Bemboom walked; Steve Huls singled to load the bases; Greg Terres reached on a fielder's choice that scored Theis; Chad Hess hit a sacrifice fly that scored Huls; Todd Geislinger walked; and Brent Schloe doubled home Terres.  The score remained at 3-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning when Cold Spring scored five times.  Hess singled; Geislinger walked; Schloe flew out to adavnce Hess to third; a passed ball scored Hess and advanced Geislinger to second; Kounkel singled home Geislinger; Mike Arnold doubled home Kounkel; and Bemboom homered to left, the team's first of the season, to score Arnold.  Neither team would score after that, so the Silver Springers won the game 8-0.
