The Cold Spring Silver Springers made it two straight exhibition wins with an 11-2 victory over the Class C Roscoe Rangers at Springer Park on Sunday afternoon. The offense pounded out 12 hits and took advantage of eight walks to overcome an early 2-0 deficit. Dave Hinkemeyer, Jake Eichten, and Tim Martin each threw three effective innings on the mound, allowing just one earned run on eight hits while striking out seven and walking one. Eichten earned the win and Martin picked up the save.

Scoring Summary:

The Rangers struck first with two runs (one unearned) in the top of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Silver Springers responded with a run in the bottom of the second inning to cut the lead in half. Rod Schafer singled; Chad Hess walked; both runners advanced on stolen bases; and Brent Schloe hit a sacrifice fly to score Schafer. In the bottom of the third, Cold Spring tied the game at 2-2 when John Theis singled, Joe Kounkel doubled Theis to third, and Martin grounded out to score Theis. The Silvers took the lead for good when they scored five times in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mike Arnold singled; Greg Terres doubled Arnold to third; Todd Geislinger singled home Arnold; Schafer singled home Terres; Hess singled home Geislinger; Schloe walked to load the bases; Derek Falde walked to plate Schafer; and a wild pitch scored Hess to make the score 7-2. Cold Spring then added four insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. Geislinger walked; Hess walked; Schloe was hit by a pitch to fill the bases; Falde walked to force home Geislinger; John Theis walked to score Hess; and Kounkel singled home Schloe and Falde to make the final score 11-2 in favor of the Silver Springers.
