The Silvers traveled to Burnsville for a game with the talented Bulldogs.  The Silvers and Bulldogs played in the final game of the 2011 season with the Cold Spring squad walking away champions.  Burnsville exacted some revenge this season dumping the Silvers 7 to 6.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 3 to 0 lead after the 1st inning.  The Silvers got on the board in the 3rd inning when Mike Trewick ended up on third base after a throwing error by Burnsville.  Pete Schleper promptly hit a fly ball to plate the tagging Trewick.  The Silvers pushed another run across in the 4th when Steve Huls started the inning with a smooth single to center field, was bunted to second by Rod Schafer and driven home on a single by Brad Neugart to right center.  Burnsville answered in the bottom half of the 4th with a solo home run and pushed another across in the 5th.  Trailing 5 to 2 in the top of the sixth the Silvers got a rally going with the help of a couple of Burnsville errors, a hit batsman, and a couple wild pitches.  Neugart singled to plate Huls.  Billy Theis drove in Schafer.  Burnsville had seen enough and went to their hard throwing 35 year old closer.  Mike Trewick prompltly greeted him with a single to left field that plated Neugart and Billy Theis.  By the time the inning ended the score was 6 to 5 with Cold Spring winning.  Huls relieved Hinkemeyer in the bottom of the 6th but gave up a couple of unearned runs and the Burnsville closer recorded a quick three outs in the top of the 7th to send the Cold Spring guys home with a loss.

The sun played havoc on several fly balls for both teams - extending several innings.  Both sides paid the price for giving their opponent additional outs.  Dan Gilbert was the 'butt' of a Rod Schafer joke.  Gilby was playing 1st base & Rod gave him the old double hip grab pull on his pants.  Gilby's pants ended up around his knees..... let's just say he wasn't wearing sliding pants and leave it at that.  It was mentioned this win marked the first time that Burnsville had defeated the Silvers.  Which was news to many Bulldogs and Silvers as there have been a number of competitive games between the teams over the years.

With the loss Cold Spring goes to 1 - 1.  Burnsville improved to 3 - 1.
